Meet the Dentists

LEAD DENTIST / OWNER
Dr. Mark Garner
Lead Dentist
Owner
Voted Best Dentist in the Black Hills
US Air Force Veteran
Omicron Kappa Upsilon Member
Dr. Mark Garner didn't build Orchard Meadows to be a typical dental office — and you'll feel that the moment you walk in.
Voted Best Dentist in the Black Hills for four consecutive years, Dr. Mark combines deep clinical expertise with a down-to-earth style that patients trust from day one. He's been serving families across Rapid City and Spearfish since 2006, delivering everything from preventive care to complex restorative treatment and full-arch, same-day implants with DIEM® Teeth in a Day. He's licensed to administer IV moderate sedation and is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Dakota Dental Association, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and several other professional organizations.
But Dr. Mark's commitment doesn't stop at the chair. He's brought two charitable programs to Rapid City — Dentistry With Heart and Freedom Day — both designed to provide free care to those who need it most. He and his team have also traveled to Costa Rica on dental mission trips. He's a US Air Force veteran, a graduate of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (Class of 2006, high distinction), and a member of the national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon — one of only four students inducted from his graduating class.
Outside the office, Dr. Mark is out in the Black Hills with his wife Lindsey and their eight kids. Yes, eight. That level of organized chaos builds patience — and he brings every bit of it to work.
DENTIST
Dr. Tyler Juhlin
Rapid City Location
Dr. Tyler Juhlin grew up in Norfolk, Nebraska and headed west after dental school — and once he saw the Black Hills, the decision made itself. He earned his bachelor's degree in biological sciences and his DDS from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2021, then came to Orchard Meadows after meeting Dr. Mark and seeing the kind of team culture that's pretty hard to walk away from.
Dr. Juhlin's focus is general dentistry for patients of all ages, and he's always adding to his skillset — with particular interest in implants and Invisalign on the horizon. His style is straightforward, patient, and easy to talk to. He's not going to make dentistry feel more complicated than it needs to be.
When he's not in the office, you'll find Dr. Juhlin out on the golf course, on a hiking trail, on a tennis court, or knee-deep in a Black Hills stream learning to fly fish. If there's a sporting event on, he's probably watching that too.

DENTIST
Dr. Katie Juhlin
Rapid City Location
Dr. Katie Juhlin grew up in Papillion, Nebraska and studied biochemistry at the University of Nebraska before earning her DDS from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She met Dr. Tyler during dental school — they got engaged in 2023, moved to the Black Hills, and were married in 2025. Safe to say, Rapid City kept them both.
Dr. Katie's focus is general dentistry for patients of all ages. She believes in clear communication, collaborative treatment planning, and making sure patients feel confident about every decision before anything begins. Her approach is thoughtful, calm, and completely judgment-free.
When she's not at the practice, Dr. Katie is hiking, traveling, or out on a walk with her dog, Coco.
DENTIST
Dr. Emily Hvezda (vee-ez-duh)
Pronounced vee-EZ-duh
Rapid City Location
Dr. Emily Hvezda grew up in Alexandria, Minnesota, took plenty of family vacations to the Black Hills, and eventually made it her home — the scenic route, but a good one. She earned her bachelor's in biomedical sciences from Minnesota State University, her master's in biomedical sciences from Midwestern University in Arizona, and her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Midwestern's School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Hvezda's approach centers on building real relationships with her patients. She takes the time to get to know each person, tailors treatment plans to individual goals, and works hard to make every visit feel like a conversation — not a procedure. She's the kind of dentist who genuinely wants to know how you're doing.
Outside the office, Dr. Hvezda is spending time with her husband Riley, their three kids, and their golden retriever — hiking, camping, running, and making the most of everything the Black Hills has to offer.

DENTIST
Dr. Mason Hericks
Spearfish Location
Dr. Mason Hericks grew up in Watertown, South Dakota — a small-town background that shaped the way he practices dentistry. He understands the value of working hard, listening carefully, and earning trust over time. He earned his B.S. in biological sciences from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and went on to complete his DDS at Creighton University School of Dentistry.
Dr. Hericks practices comprehensive general dentistry at our Spearfish location and is actively expanding his expertise in dental implants and orthodontics. His calm, measured chairside presence helps patients feel at ease — whether they're navigating a complex treatment plan or just coming in for a routine visit.
Before dentistry, Dr. Hericks competed as a collegiate track athlete — a detail that tells you a lot about his discipline and his commitment to getting things right. Outside the office, he's hiking, hunting, skiing, golfing, playing tennis, and yes, occasionally gaming. He's comfortable with variety.
Meet Our Hygienists
REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST
Amber
Amber graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in Dental Hygiene in 1995, started her career in Bismarck, ND, and made her way to Rapid City in 2001. A career highlight came in 2003 when she joined a dental mission trip to Romania — using basic equipment to serve a population with desperate need for care. That kind of experience doesn't leave you, and it shows in the way Amber approaches every patient.
She and her husband Chris have a teenage son and daughter who keep them busy with sports year-round.
Summers mean fishing and tubing at the cabin on the Missouri River. Weekends in the Hills mean geocaching on the trails.

REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST
Haley
Haley was born in Las Vegas and moved to the Black Hills in middle school — and the mountains clearly won. After high school she ran track at Black Hills State University before deciding to pursue a career in dentistry. She transferred to the Sheridan College dental hygiene program in Wyoming, where she earned the Golden Scaler Award — given each year to the hygiene student with the most outstanding clinical achievement. She graduated in 2016, returned to Rapid City, and joined Orchard Meadows in 2020.
Haley is passionate about patient care and brings the same competitive drive she had on the track to every appointment.
Outside the office she's fishing, boating, hiking, golfing, snowboarding, or catching live music somewhere in the Hills.
REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST
Faith
Faith has called the Black Hills home since 2007, and her connection to Orchard Meadows goes back further than most. She started her dental career here in 2013 as a dental assistant alongside Dr. Mark before heading to Arizona to earn her associate degree in Dental Hygiene from Mohave College in Bullhead City in 2022. Then she came right back.
That full-circle path means Faith knows this practice inside and out — and she brings a genuinely patient-focused energy to every appointment. She wants people to feel comfortable, not just cared for.
When she's not with patients, Faith is gardening, reading, hiking, or exploring somewhere new in the Black Hills.

REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST
Abby
Abby grew up in the tiny town of Twin Brooks, SD, graduated from Milbank High School, and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from the University of South Dakota in 2023. She started her career in Fargo, ND before deciding to make the move to the Black Hills in 2024 — and she's not looking back.
Abby is getting married here in the Black Hills in September 2025, which feels like a pretty good sign that the Hills have officially claimed her. She brings a warm, detail-oriented approach to patient care and genuinely loves what she does.
Outside work, you'll find her crafting, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with family.
REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST
Kayla
Kayla is originally from Cape Carteret, North Carolina, but she lived in Valdosta, Georgia before moving to the Black Hills in 2025 when her husband, who is active duty in the United States Air Force, was reassigned to Ellsworth Air Force Base. In 2022, Kayla earned an associate of applied science degree in dental hygiene from Valdosta State University. Three years later, she graduated Summa Cum Laude -- the highest possible academic distinction – with a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene from Georgia Highlands College.
Since then, Kayla has continued pushing herself both professionally and academically. She’s currently enrolled at Louisiana State University, working towards a master’s degree in business administration.
Away from work, Kayla likes to read and spend time soaking up the sunshine with her husband and two young children.

REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST
Marlee
Marlee was born and raised on a family ranch in Ekalaka, Montana — and that upbringing gave her both a deep compassion for people and a strong work ethic that shows in everything she does. She earned her degree in Dental Hygiene at Mohave Community College in Bullhead City, Arizona in 2018 and built her career there before leaving the desert heat for the Black Hills in June 2024.
Marlee takes real pride in helping patients achieve their best oral health — and she feels it every time a patient leaves feeling better than when they arrived. She's also a single mom to a daughter who's currently convinced she'll be a princess when she grows up. (Marlee is quietly hoping for dentist.)
When she's not working or chasing royalty dreams, she's hiking, boating, kayaking, and working on DIY projects at home.
Meet Our Leadership Team
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Neddie
Neddie has been part of the Orchard Meadows family since October 2012 — and there isn't a corner of this practice she hasn't touched. She started as a Patient Care Coordinator, moved through Financial Coordinator and Office Manager, and is now the Chief Operating Officer, overseeing everything that keeps the practice running at the level patients expect.
Neddie graduated from Western Dakota Tech in 2014 with a Dental Assistant with expanded function and Radiology Certifications and logs continuing education credits well beyond what the State of South Dakota requires. She takes that commitment seriously.
Outside of the office, Neddie and her husband Kyle enjoy traveling, the outdoors, and spending time with their two beautiful kids.

CLINICAL DIRECTOR
Sarah
Sarah grew up in Spearfish, SD and found her way into dentistry early. After high school she started working as a dental assistant, loved it enough to go back to school, and became a licensed Certified Dental Assistant with expanded functions and Dental Radiographs through Western Dakota Technical College in 2002. In 2007, she passed the Dental Assisting National Boards — and then spent seven years in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, where she also earned her Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification.
She joined Orchard Meadows in 2016, became Lead Dental Assistant in 2017, and now serves as Clinical Director — primarily mentoring and training the next generation of assistants at the practice. She's the kind of leader who sets the bar high because she knows what excellent care actually looks like.
When she's not at work, Sarah is with family and friends, curled up with a good book, or out in the great outdoors.
ADMINISTRATION DIRECTOR
Amy
Amy started in the dental field in 2005 and graduated from the Western Dakota Tech Dental Assisting program in 2007.
Her passion for providing the highest level of service led her to specialize in the front office patient care where she coordinates patient communication and scheduling. Amy grew up and raised her four children here in Rapid City.
In her free time, Amy enjoys hiking, camping, and photography with her husband, Shawn and children Joslin, Jewel, Ian and Caine.
